Once upon a time, my rice cooker was vandalized. So recently I took it apart, saved spare parts for whatever, and after watching a few DIY videos on making your own emergency heat that's safe and really works, I put this together. Parts are glued with tough glue so I don't think it will be a fire threat. It's all one piece.

The Rev. Richard E. "Dick" Hawke, 84, a long-time Western Pennsylvania pastor, mission advocate and former Pittsburgh District Superintendent, died suddenly at home in Chapel Hill, NC, on Saturday, June 25, 2016.
He is survived by his wife, Marybelle; daughter, Cynthia Joy Hawke Renn and her husband, Bill; and grandchildren, Evan and Lydia. He was preceded in death by his daughter Jennifer Hawke-Petit and granddaughters Hayley and Michaela Petit, all of Cheshire, Connecticut.
Rev. Hawke was born in Grove City, PA on Nov. 29, 1931, one of five children of Virginia Pearson Hawke and William Earle Hawke. His father died when he was nine years old. To support the family, his mother took on many odd jobs, cleaning and serving in hotels and restaurants.
Following graduation from high school, he enlisted in the US Marine Corps, where he served as a Chaplain's assistant. He was honorably discharged in 1952 and returned to Grove City College, where he was football captain for three years. While a college student, he served as a student minister at Grace Methodist Church and Epworth Church.
Richard married Marybelle Buchanan, a registered nurse at Grove City Hospital, in June of 1953. In 1956, he was licensed to preach and admitted on trial to the Erie Methodist Conference and began studying at Drew Theological Seminary. He earned an M.Div. and was ordained an elder in 1959.
Rev. Hawke served as a pastor at Kings Chapel and Pulaski in the New Castle area, Slippery Rock, Dormont and Greenville First UMCs before being named Pittsburgh District Superintendent in 1978. In 1984, he moved to Stone UMC in Meadville, where he served until retirement at age 63 in 1994.
After retirement, the Hawkes moved to Venice, Florida, but spent summers in the Slippery Rock area, attending Slippery Rock UMC. In 2014, they moved to Chapel Hill, where their daughter and family live.
During their ministry, the Hawkes were active in mission, traveling to, among other places, Alaska and Liberia. He served as Conference GBGM Mission Secretary
"I was the first male dean of the School of Mission and both Marybelle and I have been teachers at the school and served on the board for a number of years," Hawke said in 2007 when announcing establishment of the Hawke-Petit Endowment Fund in the Conference to receive donations in memory of tdaughter Jennifer Hawke Petit, her daughters, who died in July of that year in a home invasion. "Other than the local church, the School of Mission had more influence on our ministry than anything else."
The Hawke-Petit Endowment Fund was set up to provide:
Scholarships for children and youth to attend the Cooperative School of Christian Mission (now Mission u), as well as support for the school's programs and leadership; Scholarships for youth to participate in Volunteers in Mission work /travel experiences Camping scholarships for children and youth at Western PA Conference Camps
The endowment's purposes reflect the ministry of the Hawke family and the commitment of the three women to children and youth.
A memorial service for Rev. Hawke was held June 28 at University United Methodist Church in Chapel Hill.

Lufthansa Will Resume Service To Iran
After a hiatus extending back before the pandemic, Lufthansa is resuming service to the Islamic Republic of Iran later this month.

: On January 8 2020, Iranian forces shot down a Ukraine International Airlines Boeing 737-800 departing from Tehran. The U.S. had assassinated Iranian General Qasem Soleimani by drone strike five days earlier and the Iranians believed that the 737, operating as flight PS752 to Kiev, was a cruise missile. However, that admission did not come until January 11th and for the three days prior, Iranian forces maintained the 737 had simply experienced mechanical problems.
Lufthansa cancelled its daily flight from Frankfurt to Tehran that day, LH600, but believing the Ukraine International Airlines incident had been mechanical in nature, resumed service on January 9th. However, while LH600 was enroute to Tehran, word came from U.S intelligence officials that the 737 had been shot down.
Just over Bucharest, Romania, the Lufthansa flight turned around and returned to Frankfurt. Not only was the flight cancelled, but all service to Iran was suspended.
Then COVID-19.
Consequently, 15 months later Lufthansa still has not resumed service to the Islamic Republic.
But that services resumes this month. Lufthansa has confirmed service will launch between Frankfurt and Tehran on April 16th.
In a statement, Lufthansa underscored its confidence it could operate safely:
The conditions for safe flight operations in Iranian airspace are currently in place.”

Lufthansa cancelled its daily flight from Frankfurt to Tehran that day, LH600, but believing the Ukraine International Airlines incident had been mechanical in nature, resumed service on January 9th. But that services resumes this month. Lufthansa has confirmed service will launch between Frankfurt and Tehran on April 16th.
In a statement, Lufthansa underscored its confidence it could operate safely:

The Rev. Richard E. "Dick" Hawke, 84, a long-time Western Pennsylvania pastor, mission advocate and former Pittsburgh District Superintendent, died suddenly at home in Chapel Hill, NC, on Saturday, June 25, 2016.
He is survived by his wife, Marybelle; daughter, Cynthia Joy Hawke Renn and her husband, Bill; and grandchildren, Evan and Lydia. He was preceded in death by his daughter Jennifer Hawke-Petit and granddaughters Hayley and Michaela Petit, all of Cheshire, Connecticut.
Rev. Hawke was born in Grove City, PA on Nov. 29, 1931, one of five children of Virginia Pearson Hawke and William Earle Hawke. His father died when he was nine years old. To support the family, his mother took on many odd jobs, cleaning and serving in hotels and restaurants.
Following graduation from high school, he enlisted in the US Marine
Corps, where he served as a Chaplain's assistant. He was honorably discharged in 1952 and returned to Grove City College, where he was football captain for three years. While a college student, he served as a student minister at Grace Methodist Church and Epworth Church.
Richard married Marybelle Buchanan, a registered nurse at Grove City Hospital, in June of 1953. In 1956, he was licensed to preach and admitted on trial to the Erie Methodist Conference and began studying at Drew Theological Seminary. He earned an M.Div. and was ordained an elder in 1959.
Rev. Hawke served as a pastor at Kings Chapel and Pulaski in the New Castle area, Slippery Rock, Dormont and Greenville First UMCs before being named Pittsburgh District Superintendent in 1978. In 1984, he moved to Stone UMC in Meadville, where he served until retirement at age 63 in 1994.
After retirement, the Hawkes moved to Venice, Florida, but spent summers in the Slippery Rock area, attending Slippery Rock UMC. In 2014, they moved to Chapel Hill, where their daughter and family live.
During their ministry, the Hawkes were active in mission, traveling to, among other places, Alaska and Liberia. He served as Conference GBGM Mission Secretary
"I was the first male dean of the School of Mission and both Marybelle and I have been teachers at the school and served on the board for a number of years," Hawke said in 2007 when announcing establishment of the Hawke-Petit Endowment Fund in the Conference to receive donations in memory of tdaughter Jennifer Hawke Petit, her daughters, who died in July of that year in a home invasion. "Other than the local church, the School of Mission had more influence on our ministry than anything else."
The Hawke-Petit Endowment Fund was set up to provide:
Scholarships for children and youth to attend the Cooperative School of Christian Mission (now Mission u), as well as support for the school's programs and leadership; Scholarships for youth to participate in Volunteers in Mission work /travel experiences Camping scholarships for children and youth at Western PA Conference Camps
The endowment's purposes reflect the ministry of the Hawke family and the commitment of the three women to children and youth.
A memorial service for Rev. Hawke was held June 28 at University United Methodist Church in Chapel Hill.

I got sidetracked....2017 an explosion at a factory in St. Louis, MO occurred - was it before or after Obama-incited riots - with intent to xause civil war, which was unsuccessful....

ST. LOUIS (Reuters) - More than 80 people were arrested on Sunday night as protests in St Louis over the acquittal of a white policeman who had shot a black man turned violent for a third night running.
* Beginning on the afternoon of September 15, 2017, a series of protests took place in St. Louis, Missouri, following the acquittal of former St. Louis police officer Jason Stockley in the shooting of Anthony Lamar Smith, a black man.
* President Barack Obama says he has "no sympathy" for violence after a grand jury did not indict the police officer who shot and killed Michael Brown
Obama called on protesters to fight for political change and new policies to improve relations with police
Attorney General Eric Holder says the Justice Department's two civil rights reviews in Brown's shooting will continue

LaVena Johnson was the first female soldier from Missouri to die in Iraq or Afghanistan.
Ten years after Army Private LaVena Lynn Johnson died in Iraq, her father keeps family photographs of her tucked away in his basement office in his Florissant home, so that his wife doesn’t see them.
John Johnson says she finds the images too painful to look at: A smiling LaVena in gold cap and gown, Class of 2004, Hazelwood Central High. LaVena posing in a powder blue formal gown.
The Army says the 19-year-old soldier killed herself in Iraq -- a finding that her family has never believed.
For ten years, Johnson has been on a mission to find his own answers to what happened to his pretty daughter who played the violin and wanted to be a movie producer. The honor student who took after him.

“All her life, Lavena was told, ‘You look like your daddy. You act like your daddy. You think like your daddy,’ ’’ Johnson says.
He treasures the Father’s Day card she sent just weeks before she died on July 19, 2005. It said: Like father, like daughter.
“It was a beautiful, beautiful card,’’ he says. “And she talked about what an honor it was for her to be compared to me. Something that people had done from the moment she came on this earth.’’
He says that LaVena’s decision to join the Army was influenced by his own career path. He lived with his family in the Pruitt-Igoe housing project in St. Louis until he graduated from high school. He joined the Army, serving for three years. After his discharge, he went to college, eventually earning a doctorate in psychology. Both he and his wife had civilian jobs in troop support for the Army. They’ve been married for 38 years.
The Johnsons had five children, and LaVena felt she should pay her own way through college, her father says. He and his wife were hesitant, but LaVena thought the Army seemed like a good way to do it.
Even without her photos on the walls, the sunny two-story house where LaVena grew up is filled with her memories. Johnson recalls vividly the moment everything changed -- when the doorbell rang too early on a summer morning.
“Linda got up and looked out the window and she said, ‘John there’s a soldier standing on the porch.’ I knew then … it was not good news. Something has happened to LaVena.”
He recalls the soldier’s voice ... LaVena was dead ... self-inflicted wounds. His wife was screaming.
“She was up on that balcony and it was, oh God, it was horrible,’ ’’ Johnson says. “I’m sitting there on the steps and I’m listening to the chaos that’s in my house, and I’m watching this guy and he’s standing there like he’s a statue.’’
The Johnsons could not believe what they were hearing. They had just talked to LaVena two days before. She was telling them about her plans. She was about to start a new job on the Army base, and her outfit -- the 129th Corps Support Battalion -- would be rotating back to the States in a few months. She would be home in time to help her father decorate the Christmas tree, a tradition she and her younger sister enjoyed every year.
“She was looking forward to her future. Looking forward to coming home and looking forward to having another job,’’ Johnson says.

"They didn’t give me any information”
Information from the Army was vague and contradictory, Johnson says. He told the media that he had suspicions about his daughter's death, even as she was being buried with military honors at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. She was promoted posthumously to private first class and awarded good conduct and commendation medals.
“When you come and tell me my 19-year-old daughter didn’t value life and that’s all she did, she valued all life. You tell me she committed suicide, but you didn’t tell me what she did. Whether she jumped off a bridge. They didn’t give me any information,’’ he says.
The official investigation took months and was conducted by special agents from the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command, which investigates soldiers' deaths and crimes within the Army. (It’s the Army’s counterpart to the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, made familiar by the TV series “N.C.I.S.”)
Investigators concluded that Private Johnson shot herself in the mouth with her M-16 rifle in a contractor’s tent on the military base in Balad, Iraq, where she was stationed. The report included witness testimony suggesting that she may have been depressed over a recent breakup.
John Johnson would have none of it. He demanded to see the Army’s evidence. He filed Freedom of Information requests and enlisted the assistance of local legislators.
In a statement to St. Louis Public Radio, U.S. Rep. William Lacy Clay said that his staff devoted hundreds of hours to helping the Johnson family discover the truth about the case, including helping them obtain the original autopsy report and photos.

“PFC Johnson gave her life for her country. And her country has an obligation to tell her family the whole truth about her death,” Clay said.

Johnson formed his own investigative team, enlisting the help of family members who have studied criminal science. For eight years they have pored over the investigation documents; studied the horrifying photographs; analyzed witness statements.
Johnson doesn’t mince words: He believes his daughter was raped and murdered, her death covered up.
Johnson says he had to find the strength to look at the autopsy photos of his daughter – and to examine her body before the funeral. In 2007, he made another difficult decision: having her body exhumed for an independent autopsy. The results were inconclusive.
"There were some things I had to do,’’ he says.
Johnson disputes practically everything about the Army’s conclusion. He says her commanding officer described her as happy and healthy. He contends that her arms were too short; that she couldn’t have shot herself with her rifle, and that the wound in her head was too small to have been made by an M-16. He says the pictures tell him that LaVena had been beaten. There was no suicide note; the bullet that killed her was not found.
Johnson believes the Army’s findings were flawed because, he says, her death was investigated as a suicide, not a homicide.
“All of us can’t be wrong about the evidence that we’ve compiled. It is awful, awful, awful compelling,’’ Johnson says. “And, unfortunately, Lavena got lost in all of this and just lost everything trying to be a good American citizen.’’
The Army stands by its findings
Christopher Grey, chief of public affairs for the Criminal Investigation Command, said in a statement that LaVena Johnson’s death was “a tragic suicide.” That the investigation was lengthy and thorough. And that investigators would immediately reopen the investigation should credible information surface.
“We express our sincere condolences to the family and friends of PFC Johnson. We have and continue to take the death of PFC LaVena Johnson very seriously,’’ Grey said.
“Our lengthy and very thorough investigation by highly-trained Special Agents is based in fact; testimonial evidence, physical evidence and forensic evidence. The independent autopsy findings by the Armed Forces Medical Examiner's Office came to the same conclusion. Tragically, there are many misrepresentations of the facts being circulated on the internet that are false and unsubstantiated.’’
The LaVena Johnson story has been heavily reported by local and national media, especially in the early years. More recently, the circumstances of her death have been questioned widely by bloggers and petitions on social media demand that the investigation be reopened. Advocates who work to raise awareness about sexual abuse in the military, have also called attention to the case.
Sheryl McCollum of the Cold Case Investigative Research Institute calls the case “gut-wrenching. “ The institute is a national collaboration of college students who work to solve unsolved crimes. They agreed to review the case in 2011 at the request of the Johnsons. McCollum says the institute normally spends one year on a case, but spent three years on the LaVena Johnson case.

So last year I tell Google to stop being crooks with billing fraud...
My purse was stolen when I was checking my mail.
I don't get mail here anymore for many reasons, including tampering with my mail. Hopefully the USps isn't violating that but they probably are.
Having crooked relatives doesn't help!

I can't even type regularly on this damn controlled phone and the last thing my service provider cares about is fixing the problem they allowed to be created! When I showed the service provider IN PersoN, she told me I caused it because I type too much! How stupid! But dumbing down people is what they give priority to!
They admitted I was overbilled $45 - yet reduced $138 to $113.25; then tell me I need to pay the full $138 and "We promise we will give you an $80 credit NEXT MONTH. I said no! And they instead had me pay $114, not $113.25 - after all, they cannot show it was recalculated and I only lost 4 hours out of my day between calling and going to their store!
My tablet service is $20
My one line, Magenta Plan (which probably marks us as first to kill off!) is $50; two lines would be $90
And they charge me $30 / month for the iPhone ripoff!
I took the sim card out to weaken their spying and controlling my damb $1,000 waste of money phone. I was refused to take it back. They said you only have 2 weeks! That isn't even following any regulations or trade practices!

So my window is ready to cover with plastic and to hell with this damn city telling me to remove it or they will have me evicted even though it was there 3 years - yet the landlord wasn't successful conspiring with police to falsely arrest me, so they came up with this shit - I wouldn't even need to cover them if it wasn't for the fact they don't use the dehydrator most of the time! all deliberate abuse! To get revenge for the crooked poloticians that frame themselves!

And the phone TECHNOCRATS just minimized this to keep me from enlarging the pictures- plus interfere with their "can't detect grammar errors" message as a an almost constant form of harassment!
My service provider just says NOTHING - except recently accused me of making my text too long = WTF

What a difficult job this window is. It is so wet but atleast the ice melted overnight. The walls would get black with mold so i applied contact wall paper. My other window wasn't finished and got black mold on it again. I Have to use Clorox to remove it. Nothing like this happened when I was here first 43 years. They turned off the dehydrator, which is supposed to be on all the time, said Luke, a prior maintenance man who was very good, very nice. He left the company.

Just some ideas to make Safe heat if your tiny home/apartment/RV has a chill. Of course, the pan was just set there to demonstrate.
Stainless steel or the like has the capacity to radiate heat. Whereas the rice cooker metal retained heat, which made it safer to handle when cooking rice. Hot water can burn skin like no tomorrow. The skin just rolls off.
This pot radiates heat. Ceramic is a tricky substance but the right kind radiates heat and is safe to use.

Oil that's safest: paraffin oil, methanol, olive oil, probably others. Kersone absorbs oxygen and creates odorless CO2 gas that can kill you. it's handy for outdoor cooking. So is propane. Safer than kerosene, but unless you have a professionally-engineered apparatus , like a buddy heater, think twice about rigging up something using propane . The tanks are quite secure, but could still cause a problem if you don't have safe storage. Propane tends to poof, then go out, when using a grill. Like when the pilot light is out and you light it. My brother got his kicks making the pilot light go out and telling me not to worry, just light it, laughing when my eyebrows and eyelashes were burned to nothing. It was shortly after that my father told him to get a job on his own. Nowadays, protective masks are available to wear for circumstances like that.
